BeerMason and MasterChef Chris Badenoch

As many of you know, I'm a homebrewer. Yes, shock horror and all that. Any hoo, to cut a long story short, I'm also a committee member of the Australian National Homebrewing Conference www.anhc.com.au, which recently held its 2009 Food and Beer Pairing Dinner at William Angliss Restaurant. Adding a touch of star appeal to proceedings, BeerMasons' Grand Master and Australian MasterChef contestant Chris Badenoch worked with Angliss head-chef David Whitfield to develop the menu for the event. Unfortunately, because of conflicting contractual engagements, Chris couldn't make meal, so New McPherson stepped in to fill the void. Col and I dropped in on Chris' pad around the corner and made a few short films to stand in his stead. The film was shot with both the Sony EX3 and Canon 7D (we are really loving this camera!) Music by Christian O'Brien (Christian composed the original music for the AFFW films).

Little visitor

It's hard to ignore a two month old kid - even in an office full of blokes. Nik from RockIT brought little Reuben in for us to have a squiz, and of course it was an other opportunity to test out the new D7. It's not the easiest piece of kit to use handheld, but you can certainly see the potential. Also, if you haven't heard them, Mumford & Sons are fantatsic - go the banjo!

More 7D tests: Col's fern

Col is certainly getting the hang of the new 7D, as you can see in this quick visual essay of his indoor fern. Looking good!

Nice fern Col!

Canon 7D and Friday Fun

G'day. This is the first paltry installment of the New McPherson video blog.

Last week we took delivery of the latest weapon in our video arsenal - the Canon 7D. Whilst it's a digital SLR - a still camera - it also shoots full HD! It opens up an infinite number of creative possibilities, greatest of which is the ability for us to pop on prime lenses which deliver amazing depth of field. We're really excited about getting out for our next event films. Not happy to sit around and wait, Colin and myself had a muck around with it on Friday afternoon drinks with the RockIT boys (Jono was too busy dominating Mario Cart to help). For the record, I managed to sneak in a few race victories (an extremely rare occurrence), and as you can see, it's no mean feat given I look like I'm receiving some kind of electronic shock therapy. Col put this clip together in a few minutes whilst Jono was putting the RockIT boys to the sword.

Well, that's it, you're probably wondering when all the work gets done around here. Also, thanks to Matilda Bay for the Fat Yak!

Cheers, James
